Business briefs | Classes coming to Arcata shop, residents honored with awards – Eureka Times-Standard

Amy Fowler is an international millinery instructor and the owner of Humboldt Haberdashery in Arcata. The store features a fully equipped crafting classroom, which will hold regular classes in 2023 and is available for rent for individual artists, parties and meeting groups.
The classes will be on Tuesday evenings and Sunday afternoons and will cover a variety of creative skills.
In addition to the creative classes, Fowler will offer eCommerce classes on selling through Etsy, Amazon and Shopify.

The Arcata Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors recognized Molly Steele, a bookkeeper with Solutions for Small Businesses and Mark Loughmiller, the president and CEO of Kokatat for their contributions to the chamber on Thursday.
A lifetime membership was awarded to Steele and a 10-year service plaque was awarded to Loughmiller.
On Thursday, the governing board at Eureka City Schools recognized Melanie Williams with an Apple Pin Award for her dedication to students and families at Alice Birney Elementary School.
“The Apple Pin Award is a recognition of the hard work our staff and community members are doing within our local schools,” said Eureka City School’s Board President Mike Duncan. “We have a wonderful team at Eureka City Schools and we value the work being done each and every day.”
Alice Birney Elementary Principal Kristin Sobilo noted in a news release, “Melanie Williams has been an active part of the entire county’s biking community for over 20 years! … Alice Birney nominated Ms. Williams for the Apple Pin Award for her leadership, time, and connection she brings to our bike club.”
