Turkey v Scotland: Steve Clarke may find he has friends in dangerous places – The Times

Tanks have been stationed outside the team hotel. Armed guards have been following the players around. The trip to Turkey for Wednesday night’s friendly international has been an unusual experience for the veterans of this Scotland side, never mind those on the fringes who are hoping to make a name for themselves.
Steve Clarke and his squad were advised, after discussions with the British embassy, that it was safe to travel, but the Turkish authorities are taking no risks, not when their capital city, Istanbul, fell victim to a terrorist attack only last Sunday. The bomb in a busy shopping street, blamed on Kurdish separatists, killed six people and wounded 81 others.
